Haggis Championship returns to D&G

Haggis from Dumfries has been named the best in Scotland. Stuart Houston of J.B. Houston butchers in Dumfries claimed the title of 2017 Scottish Haggis Champion at the Scottish Meat Trade Fair which took place in Perth on Sunday 14th May.

Houston's Haggis is already well regarded across Dumfries & Galloway and it can be found on menus in hotels and restaurants across the region. The unique recipe uses the finest traditional ingredients, and it has won multiple awards over the years and has featured on TV programmes such as Hairy Bikers and Hugh Fearnley'Whittingstall's River Cottage.

The Scottish Haggis Championship is held every second year attracted almost 100 entries. These were firstly judged by region, and then the regional champions faced another tasting panel of experts to establish the overall winner. The result was a clear win for the Stuart Houston haggis of J.B. Houston of Greenbrae Loaning, Dumfries.
